Strengths: Yolanda knows the Paris apartment market in and out. Although she is based in one real estate agency, she has a number of others that she works with to find the best properties - often before they?re officially on the market. She also has a number of excellent bank contacts should you require a mortgage.

Weaknesses: She works too hard.

Re-hire: We?ve bought two apartments through Yolanda and have been very pleased with both. We first did a search with her in the summer of 2005. She was very thorough researching our needs, and although we looked at perhaps a dozen available apartments, we bought the very first one that she showed us. We?ve been living there for two years now. We hired Yolanda again to help us find an investment apartment. She helped us look at several apartments - both ones she found and several that we found on our own. She found a perfect apartment one morning and set us up to look at it that afternoon. By the time we got to look at it, an offer had already been made and accepted! But she stayed on top of the deal, and when it fell through, we immediately faxed our offer. We weren?t in Paris for either transaction - but she handled them both for us flawlessly through an excellent Notaire that she uses.

How long: As noted above, we found our first apartment on the first day we went "shopping." She convinced us to make an offer on it (you have 7 days to back out) while we looked at others. The second apartment perhaps took a month, but we were in no hurry and were in Paris at the time.
